How to Use this Site
This service will enable you to search our county-wide mapping system. You have the option of viewing the county in detail based on particular criteria or by zooming in to an area of interest. This is a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application.
Viewing Tax Maps
A link to the tax maps in PDF format is available for the whole county (except City of Portage and City of Kalamazoo) by selecting features in the "Tax Map Areas" layer under the Map Layers Tab/Optional Layers on the left side of the map. Make sure the box in front of "Tax Map Areas" is checked. Under the Select tab on the top of the map, choose Select on Map (or click the Select button, second button from the right, on the navigation bar at the bottom of the map). On the bottom left of the map, select Tax Map Areas from the pull-down menu. Then click on the area on the map that you want the tax map for. The selected area will turn red. To view the tax map, click on the PDF Map Link on the left side of the map.
Viewing aerial photographs, parcels and other map layers
Where digital parcel data is available in the county, the parcels can be overlayed on for example aerials or soils maps. Check the box in front of the layers that you want to view under the Map Layers Tab, and follow the pop-up Help Notes. To turn off pop-up Help Notes, click Settings tab on top and choose "Turn Off help Notes"
Search Parcels
You have the option of viewing the county in detail based on for instance a particular address or property identification number (PIN). Under the Find tab on the top of the map, select Search Parcels and pick one of the option criteria to search by. Note: For the City of Kalamazoo and City of Portage parcel information, see website links above.
GIS Data
| Most of the data on this site is publicly available data that in some cases has been enhanced or updated. The aerial photography from 2004 and 2009 were produced as co-operative efforts with the governmental units and other interested parties in the county. The parcel layer was produced partially by the townships/villages and was made available to the county for this mapping website. The rest of the parcels were produced by the County. The City of Kalamazoo and the City of Portage have similar mapping websites where the cities' information can be viewed and printed (see web links above.) Water Depth Table: This information is only a guideline. Depth to water table can vary more than 8 feet from year to year. Source: MDEQ/MSU 2005.
